Meet the Members: Jessica Principe, All Girl Shave Club

Meet the CoHo Member: Jessica Principe

Business: Jessica Principe is the founder of All Girl Shave Club, a subscription box service for women, and after taking this business from “idea” to “6 figure business” in less than a year, she has certainly found her footing amongst NH’s entrepreneurs. Now, after being in business for 4 years, she also coaches other owners on how to add a profitable revenue stream to their own businesses, using the subscription model. She was so kind to sit down with me to share what she’s learned over the years.

How did you start this business? Well I worked for my family’s business right out of college, which is in the healthcare industry. I spent 14 years there, working my way up the ladder, and learning all the facets of my mother’s business. I have a degree in Marketing and Business from Southern NH University, and had to start at the bottom like everyone else, ha!

My idea to start the business came in the shower, where all moms do their best thinking! As a busy mom to two little boys, I didn’t have a lot of time for a complicated beauty regimen. I didn’t wear as much makeup as I did before babies, and my hair often ended up in a messy bun most days, but I still liked to feel pretty. I loved the feeling of having silky smooth, soft skin but honestly, I found shaving to be kind of an inconvenient chore. I often had to get creative with my time and double down on things that would make the most impact for me.

One day I was getting ready to shave and thought to myself, there has to be a better way! How could I make this process more enjoyable so that I would want to make the time to do it more often? My husband was a member of a men's shave club and while I could have easily joined him, it really didn’t solve the main pain point for me - which was making it a more enjoyable process! After I had the idea for All Girl Shave Club, it quickly became a passion, and I had to follow it. I learned a lot in my first year, but the market responded and the rest is history!

Why are you so passionate about the subscription box model? I am passionate about it because it creates a reliable stream of revenue for businesses, and that could save so many brick and mortars right now! Whether you have a product or a service based business, there is an opportunity to serve your customer base and strengthen your company. In 2020, our company really thrived because the pandemic changed the way people shopped. We don’t expect this to change back, going forward. It’s a huge opportunity, and I love helping others take advantage of that.

Family: Beyond running her online companies, Jessica is a firefighters wife, and mama to two school aged boys. Add in a year of remote schooling, a pandemic, and a young puppy named Rudy, and it’s amazing that she’s found time for coaching others, let alone her enormous success.

How do you manage it all? Haha! We use the pomodoro method for getting work done at home, for both kids and mom! It helps if the kids know that we’re going to have a focused 20 minute work sprint, then break for a snack, then another 20 minute sprint, etc. I’m able to get work done alongside them when we take this approach. For longer stretches of time, I like to head to my desk at CoHo for uninterrupted time where no kids or the puppy might need me.
